Melancholy Girl

Her only comfort is an undying devotion
She walks softly and quickly
with an awkward grace.

Pale, fragile girl, tall and gaunt
with wild, raven hair and dark placid eyes
Her black dress flows as if it were a dream.

Her tremulous hands grasp tightly the souls
that Hope has forsaken
and Pain can’t redeem.
